Paediatric First Aid Courses 

Paediatric First Aid -APPROVED BY ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL 
 
This course has been designed to meet the needs of those working with children and babies. As well as providing you with a Basic First Aid training, it includes scenarios and situations that are more likely to occur in children, as well as an opportunity to practice your skills on baby and child mannequins. We also cover recognition of common childhood illnesses and a session on reducing the risks of cross infection and infection control. 
 
Our course meets the requirements of OFSTED and NVQ training organisations. It is suitable for: 
 
Teachers 
Play group leaders 
Nursery nurses 
Classroom assisstants 
Boy Scout/Girl Guide Leaders 
Children's Sports Clubs 
Anyone who has a duty of care to children or babies 
Paediatric Basic Life Support 
 
½ day course. The BLS course is mandatory for nurses and healthcare workers working with children and babies but is relevant to anyone who wants to learn how to perform the skill of CPR, primary and secondary assessments, using the recovery position, how to use various ventilation aids, use of O2 and suction if available, on children. 
 
NB This course does not act as a 3 year refresher for the 12 hour Ofsted Paediatric First Aid Course. 
 
All courses are taught using the current Resuscitation Council Guidelines (UK)

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course, with a written test at the end. 
 
All successful candidates will recieve a wall and wallet certificate valid for 3 years. In line with the HSEwe recommend yearly updates of knowledge/ practical skills.
